The Esca team

ESCA is led by chefs with real experience in the yachting industry. We understand the pressure, standards, and expectations that come with life onboard — and we’ve built ESCA to prepare chefs properly for that reality.

  • George Cavendish, Founder

George Cavendish is a chef with over twenty years of experience across restaurants, Michelin-level kitchens, private households, and the superyacht industry.

His background includes owning and running his own restaurant and pub, staging in Michelin-starred kitchens, and working as a yacht chef for over four years.

Having experienced first-hand the realities of life at sea, George founded ESCA to prepare chefs for the operational, mental, and cultural demands of working onboard.

His mission is simple: to raise standards across yacht chef training and ensure vessels are matched with chefs who are genuinely ready for the role.

  • Marcus Bean

Marcus is an award-winning chef, author, and television presenter, best known for winning Iron Chef UK on Channel 4, defeating a two Michelin-starred chef.

A regular contributor on ITV’s This Morning and host at BBC Good Food Shows, Marcus combines media expertise with decades of hands-on culinary experience.

Former owner of a successful pub and cookery school, he has taught over 25,000 students and now works internationally as a private chef and hospitality consultant.

Marcus brings refined technique, calm leadership, and a passion for seasonal, sustainable cooking to every chef he mentors.

Whether you’re preparing for your first yacht role or looking for a chef you can rely on, ESCA is built for readiness.
